Produce

We’re known throughout San Francisco for our stunning farm-direct produce selection and the way it represents the seasonal bounty of Northern California.  Each item is hand-selected by Simon and Matt, our Produce Buyers, who ensure that what we offer is as fresh as can be. We pride ourselves on being like a farmers’ market every day, bringing fruits and vegetables from many of California’s best farmers together under one roof for your convenience. We choose for flavor–not for looks– and we taste each box of fruit that comes in to make sure every piece tastes great. We will sample any of our produce to our guests!

Produce crew pinstripe break!

We are proud to have ongoing, personal relationships with small  farms that produce in a sustainable way.

Some of the farms we work with:

Balakian: Reedley, CA

Blue Moon: Aptos, CA

Catalan: Hollister, CA

Frog Hollow: Brentwood, CA

Full Belly: Guinda, CA

Happy Boy: Watsonville, CA

Mariquita: Watsonville, CA

Two Dog: Davenport, CA

We partner with many of these farmers on our PUBLIC Label line, using their produce and our recipes to extend the flavors of the harvest season and add value to their operation.

You’ll also find fruits and veggies from our own farm plots in Sonoma and family orchards in Placerville for sale in our produce section!

Read an interview with Simon, our head produce buyer and farmer, about how he sees Bi-Rite’s role in the sustainable agriculture movement.
