Produce

We’re known throughout San Francisco for our stunning local, farm-direct produce selection and the way it represents the seasonal bounty of Northern California. Each item is hand-selected by Simon and Matt, our Produce Buyers, who ensure that what we offer is fresh and ready to eat. We pride ourselves on being like a farmers’ market every day, bringing fruits and vegetables from many of California’s best farmers together under one roof for your convenience. We choose for flavor–not for looks–and we taste each box of fruit that comes in to make sure it tastes great. We will sample any of our produce to our guests!

We regularly host our farmer friends at both our 18th Street and Divisadero Street locations. Farmers will typically come to visit the market and will spend time talking and sampling produce with our staff and guests, teaching us about their fruit and vegetables and methods of sustainable farming.

Check our Twitter feed and Facebook pages for regular updates on when we’re hosting our next Meet Your Farmer event!

Bi-Rite PUBLIC Label

We partner with many of these farmers on our PUBLIC Label line, using their produce and our recipes to extend the flavors of the harvest season and add value to their operation.

Bi-Rite Family Farms

You’ll also find fruits and veggies from our own farm plots in Sonoma and family orchards in Placerville for sale in our produce section!

Read an interview with Simon, our head produce buyer and farmer, about how he sees Bi-Rite’s role in the sustainable agriculture movement.
