The Hass Avocado season is just starting in California and it’s the perfect time to whip up a batch of Guacamole for the Super Bowl. This year we are fortunate to have extra creamy and flavorful avocados form Clough Family Orchard located in Corralitos, CA. This 2–acre orchard has been in the family since 1902, and they haven’t used chemical pesticides or fertilizers in over 20 years. Their fruit is not certified organic (they didn’t elect to take on the time and financial burden for the certification process) but they like to refer to their handpicked avocados as “Wildcrafted”.
Don’t waste your time making guacamole with those watery avocados from Chile and Mexico! Now’s the time to support a small family farm and be a big hit at that Super Bowl party. We’ll have these beauties in the store for the next couple of months.
And if you’re looking for the easiest guac recipe around, I recommend taking a couple of these from Clough, mashing em up in a bowl, pouring in a pint of Bi-Rite’s homemade salsa (I like the hot best), and mixing it up!
